The Trump administration approves new and tougher rules for U.S. visa applicants, Reuters reports. The new questionnaire asks for social media handles for the last five years and also extends the time span for past travels, residency and employment to be named going back 15 years. Critics believe that the new rules will drastically delay handling of incoming visa requests. Furthermore, it will be “overly burdensome” and will discourage many U.S. visitors.
Should officials determine that such information is required, they can request all prior passport numbers, five years’ worth of social media handles, email addresses and phone numbers and 15 years of biographical information including addresses, employment and travel history, Reuters quoted U.S. officials on June, 1.
