When touring around Vienna (Austria) and its beautiful wine regions in Lower Austria you do stumble across a tiny village called Göttlesbrunn. You might not be able to pronounce it properly, but it boasts some of the best wine Austria offers. My tip for grasping the whole range of Austria’s fine drops of grape juice is the very laid back restaurant and wine shop Bittermann.
The restaurant and wine shop are open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and from 10 a.m. till midnight Fridays and Saturdays, and upon special request on Mondays and Tuesdays.
But the best thing about the wine shop – you don’t even have to go there. Bittermann offers an online shop (German only unfortunately), but you do get around ordering. Or simply give them a call on Tel.: +43 216 281155, or contact the shop by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
And while you’re at it, shopping the good wines, why not drive to Lake Neusiedl? It’s literally a stone’s throw away and offers a very hot climate along with stunning scenery. The lake itself is very shallow (with an average depth of 1.6 m), which makes it easy to enjoy even if you’re not a good swimmer. Top sports there are kite surfing, wind surfing and sailing. And you can even book quick courses to get the hang of at least one of these sporting activities.
